Pom Mosaics™

After working for many years in the rug design industry Robyn and her partner, Yvan Semenowycz, had an idea to build interactive textile installations using their rug design tools called “carpet poms”. Robyn & Yvan exhibited their first Pom Mosaic™at the Come Up To My Room Festival at Gladstone Hotel in 2016. They have since produced three large interactive Pom Mosaics™and two of them remain in the permanent art collection of York Heritage Properties.

In 2017 Robyn Waffle and her partner Yvan Semenowycz exhibited their Woven Space Pom Mosaic™ at the Come Up To My Room exhibit at The Gladstone Hotel. Guests were invited to interact with the art by creating their own shapes and patterns with the small colourful carpet poms in the hexagon foam panels.

Pom Mosaic™ Installations for Canada 150

In 2017 Robyn Waffle and her partner Yvan Semenowycz were commissioned by York Heritage Properties to create two interactive Pom Mosaic™ installations for their #Canada150 celebrations. The large 8’x10’ art pieces remain part of The Toronto Carpet Factory’s permanent art collection. Each mural has about 8000 fibre carpet poms that compose each image, and the guests were invited to interact with the artwork by moving the little wool poms around the installation.

A triangle invitation was sent to each business in The Toronto Carpet Factory buildings. Each triangle opened up to reveal a small silk carpet pom. The guests were invited to attend the event and add their carpet pom to the interactive Pom Mosaics™.
